Chiropractic while preggo

I am not sure if it is a smoke up the arse situation, or if there is actually a need to spend $800-900 in chiropractic care for the next 6 months of my pregnancy. Your thoughts?

I went to the chiropractor last week to just make sure that I am keeping my body at optimal health and alignment for this pregnancy. I know that breech babies “just happen”, but I am a scientist and I have to figure out WHY. After much expensive chiropractic, accupressure, accupuncture, moxibustion, and numerous other at-home regiments for trying to turn a breech baby we finally admitted defeat during my last pregnancy. We even tried the extremely painful procedure that western medicine likes to call external cephalic version. Yuck.

This time I thought I would get my body right from the start instead of getting to the end of the pregnancy and enduring the extreme stress that accompanies utter defeat of your birth plan. Well, my chiropractor (who is very sweet and wonderful indeed) recommended a course of treatment. I went home to think about it and crunch the numbers. Almost a grand in precious dinero for a small number of well-visits. Yikes.

Plan B, which I am presently leaning towards, includes daily cat/cow exercises (free, at home), prenatal yoga ($12-15 per session but more overall benefits), and occassional water aerobics ($5-15 per session, but possibly in dirty public pools and exposure to chlorine is worrisome). What’s a girl to do? I just want healthy babies that are head-down and ready to take the plunge!
